    • It's no surprise that the world's biggest kid can write books for kids. This is not some commercial cash in, but rather a story that has no doubt been bubbling around in the author's mind since his childhood. They say write what you know, and hopefully this is the first of many more books we will see from the zany universe of Jim.

    • *I received this book free from the author in exchange for an honest review*This was a cute book with an adorable storyline. I figured I'd toss it right in and therefore read it as a bedtime story. There were a few parts I found quite strange, but my kids loved it. I have kids aging between two and eleven and my oldest thought it was funny.I have to admit I've always been a fan of Jim Carrey's acting career, but not all of it is exactly child friendly, so it's a pleasure to get to introduce him [...]

    • I was sent this book by Jim Carrey's PR firm and I'm glad they did. One I am touched to see Jim didn't go the traditional route in getting his book in print. Instead he went the indie route. Kudos Jim! He also enlisted a very talented illustrator to help him make this book not only wonderful, but Jim Carrrey wonder as Jim himself posed for many of the Roland faces you see throughout the story, not to mention his own image from time to time. The story is written in rhyme and well done. Of course t [...]

    • The man of many faces, superstar actor and comedian, Jim Carrey, has succeeded once again! Carrey’s first children’s book is a gem in a mine of books from famous celebrities. His new book includes meaningful content, rhyming prose and sparkling illustrations will appeal to all children, parents and teachers. The main character, Roland, serves as a metaphor. He is a wave in the middle of the ocean who fears that when he crashes upon the beach, he will cease to exist. Along his journey he encou [...]

    • I was shocked when I saw this book in the store. Partly because I never knew Jim Carrey was writing a book, and partly because I couldn't believe how strange it looked, even coming from someone with his reputation. I understand a comedian writing a wacky book, but this was to a whole new level of wacky. The book is all over the place, which is fine for a children's book if it is done right, but in my opinion this one isn't. It seems like he never read it twice before publishing it, and the bigge [...]

    • Jim Carrey is a house hold name, one many think of when they are looking for a great laugh.I was a bit surprised to find out he had put out a children’s book.I shouldn’t of been surprised. Jim might just be the perfect person to write for kids. What surprised me was the fact the book wasn’t funny, instead it was beautiful and had a meaningful story behind it.Jim wrote the book but also took photos of facial expressions for the illustrator to use, and included them in the back of the book. • This is a great book! Jim Carrey is not only a great actor but now an award winning children's book author. 'How Rolland Rolls' is a story about a wave who's afraid that life will be over for him when he reaches the beach. On his journey Rolland realizes that he's much more than just a wave. This is a great book to read with students because it tells the story of how you are so much more than just you; everyone, like Rolland, is meant for bigger and better things.

    • Loved it!! I wasn't sure what to think initially when I found out Jim wrote a children's book, but I was pleasantly surprised. This book has beautiful illustrations that are a little quirky but unique, a great message to kids & it has some weirdness to it & I love that! It's not your average, lifeless, stuffy kids book. It is absolutely wonderful & I can see this becoming a favorite bedtime story for us!

    • Naturally a 5 Star review for one of my all time favourite people. My parents bought me this book for Christmas because of my love of Jim Carrey. I'm currently 23, but I'm not going to deny how much I enjoyed it. It was a creative and cute story with the vibrant illustrations making it exciting and pleasing to the eye. I recommend this book to any parent looking for a new bedtime story, or to anyone like me, who enjoyed reading it aloud to her Mother first thing this morning.JulY

    • every once in a while i find a picture book that i, a twenty-five year old man, cannot understand. this is one of those books's about a wave with eyes knocking over boats that jim carrey caricatures sail - two things that will keep me from ever visiting the ocean again.i've also never seen such a high-quality (read: thick paper, high resolution printing) book be so amateurishly typeset.horrible.

    • I really did not like this book. The illustrations and pages were strange, just like the story. I didn't like how the words changed fonts or how when the pages expanded, the word 'seen' was in glasses. I felt like the story was never going to end and it lost my attention.

    • This book is so cute! I went to the book signing and my cousin is the one that let him practice his jokes at the end of the school day!

    • This book was rather surprising, coming from someone like Jim Carrey. I found it to be so beautiful and subtly profound. It really has a great message.

    • Rollin', rollin', rollin', RAWHIDEWhat on earth? What made Jim Carrey think he could write? He can't. I'll tell you that. His poetry is very cliche, and very forced sounding. The whole thing is in poetry. Also, although the artist has good technical ability, everything in this book is very trippy-looking. It looks like Wyland dropped some acid, painted these, and then put googly eyes all over everything. The story just meanders. It doesn't go anywhere until the very end. There's a wave named Rola [...]

    • Buku ini ditulis oleh Jim Carrey. Iya, Jim Carrey yang "itu". Aktor dan komedian yang khas dengan gaya slapstick. Surprised juga saat tahu Jim menulis buku anak. Di "lidah" sampul buku disebutkan: As a father and grandfather, Jim Carrey knows there's nothing more important in our lives than the well-being and future of our children and grandchildren"A-p-a? Jim Carrey sudah punya cucu?? *biasa aja kalee, Dee!Anak Jim, Jane, yang pernah ikutan American Idol, kan menikah pada usia 22 tahun dan puny [...]

    • "Not another children's book written by a celebrity!" what I groaned which I picked up this book.everyone thinks they can write a book! But this one isn't bad at all!!! First, what makes this a 4 1/2 stars in my book is the illustrations. Rob Nason's artwork is wonderful. The ocean, and water, and animals are just amazing. The story is more of a 3 3/4 for me so we round it up to 4 stars. It is a good, interesting story with a good message and well written. I have no problem recommending this. W [...]

    • Roland the wave learns that he's a small, but essential part of a bigger whole (the ocean). Digital artwork incorporates Carrey's distinctive facial expressions into the main character's expressions. Rhyming text. There was just too much story here for me. I was looking for a simpler story with one main focus in a picture book. Roland having his big epiphany would've been enough, but Roland makes friends and Roland meets a beautiful wave and falls in love were also included. I like the overall m [...]

    • This is probably the worst picture book I've ever read. The illustrations are terrible, the font is horrifically over-the-top and hard to read in most cases, and the story didn't seem focused. I could pull out several points it wanted to make, but with a children's book of this length it works best when there is focus.

    • A sweet story for the little ones. Emphasizing that we're part of a bigger picture. Roland isn't just the little wave he believes he is. He finds out that he's part of the great big ocean, and in turn part of all the water on the earth. Yet it's told in a kid friendly way. The pictures are lovely and fun.

    • The bad news starts with the concept: not much good can become of anthropomorphizing A WAVE. The story rambles and swerves, and the illustrations are trippy and hard to make sense of. Everything is connected, yes, and we all have to "roll" with it--but Jim Carrey should stick to comedy and leave the literature to the professionals.

    • I wanted to enjoy this book looks cute, the title is catchy, and with Jim Carrey as the author, you figure it has to be funny, right? Not so much. The story is all over the place at times, and some of the illustrations are actually pretty creepy, eyes floating around in the ocean and whatnot. I think I kind of get the message Carrey was going for, but it got a bit lost.

    • I read this while waiting in the book aisle at the grocery store. It's a great book for kids. The pages are filled with visibly appealing colorful illustrations that kids would love. The sentences are short but filled with 'cool' words that young children would like too. I'd definitely buy this book for my kid if I had one.

    • Sweet tale of a journey from being an individual, then connecting with friends and then connecting with one's oneness with everything. The artwork is lovely.Hard to believe that the author is a father and a grandfather. The activity link at the end of the book looks like great fun.

    • I was so excited to read this since it was written by Jim Carrey! It wasn't as good as I had hoped, but it was pretty cute. It's about being part of something bigger than yourself. I think it will keep kid's attentions because of the vibrant pictures and the rhyming words.

    • Cute, rhyming text. Loved the illustrations. Could be a nice picture book for an elementary unit on the water cycle. And, yes, it really is by Jim Carrey the actor. :)
